X-Men: Apocalypse

The X-Men series has come a long way since the release of the first installment in 2000. The story has seen a lot of changes and has seen the series getting darker and more twisted since then. The original trilogy (X-Men, X2 and The Last Stand) was kind of ended with the third installment and there the series was on a pause for quite a long time until the release of Days of Future Past two years back. The gap was filled with 2 prequels of the origin of Wolverine (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and the origin of the X-Men themselves (X-Men: The Last Stand) and a another solo Wolverine movie (The Wolverine) showing Wolverine in the present world. Then, Days of Future Past served as a connection between the past and present to secure the future of the mutants where Wolverine's consciousness is shifted to his younger body to prevent a hideous crime by Raven.
X-Men: Apocalypse, the 8th installment of the X-Men movie franchise, continues the story from Days of Future Past. Though it does not have much of a connection with the previous installments except for the characters and their changing nature. We see Raven still helping mutants who lost their path, Professor Charles Xavier continuing his school and helping young mutants and Magneto leading an honest life with his wife and daughter, though no one knows who he really is. However an ancient force awakens who is believed to be the world's first mutant. He threatens to destroy humanity and his power is beyond match. Meanwhile Magneto's family is killed after an incident where people find out who he really is. Also Apocalypse recruits four persons and the last being Magneto. They threaten to destroy the world and even kidnaps the Professor because Apocalypse wanted to transfer himself to the Professor's body as then he would have the professor's power to control any mind on earth. Meanwhile, the X-Men unites and saves the professor and Magneto also understands that he can do good. So he along with other mutants kills Apocalypse but the key role is destroying the ancient deadly force is played by a younger Jean. Also a younger Scott and Storm plays a significant role in the movie.
I personally loved the cameo of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Also William Stryker's role was reprised, but a short one. All over the movie is entertaining, but the movie was not as expected. There was not much of a story. But, people will enjoy it. A worth watch rather than a must watch.
